Grafton Street Pub
First on our list is Grafton Street Pub located 7380 Atlas Walk Way in Gainesville, VA is a local favorite because of its American traditional options with a spin of Irish to it. What it has come to be known for its brunch options and its local craft beers. They also feature nightly specials like half-priced wine bottles on Tuesdays and Buck-a-shuck oysters along with some other pretty other tasty ones.
Eclipse Restaurant and Sports Bar
Next up on the list of bars in Gainesville is the Eclipse Restaurant and Sports Bar AND Billiards! Nothing more fun than a night of shooting some pool with some great food to go with. You can find this local watering hole off of Wellington Road and this bar has way more than just billiards. They feature many different themed nights where you can dress up and have fun with other like-minded locals and they also have many bands come through as well and with a large dance floor- this makes for the perfect Look for their complete list on their Facebook Page and be sure to stop by on one of their dress-up nights!
Bar Louie
The next Gainesville bar hot spot is none other than Bar Louie right in Virginia Gateway. You can catch a movie and then find a good meal here (the theater is literally across the street). You may have heard of Bar Louie as it is a chain restaurant, but it still makes for a fun dining experience. With its oversized bar area- it is a great place to mix and mingle. The drinks are pretty good and the food is pretty tasty. You’ll find many mixed reviews on this particular bar as some people love it or they hate it. In any case, it is a great pit stop that is open late when you want a sit-down meal and some good service!
Jimbo’s Grill and BBQ
Last, but definitely not least, is Jimbo’s Grill and BBQ. While it doesn’t give you the barfly vibe, it definitely has great food and some good choices for drinks. This place gets a five out of five for a local non-chain joint to catch a few games (and beers) but you’ll see some mixed reviews on the service. Could it just be because it is a small place? Maybe, but the reviews we found are saying it is poor management that is causing the staff to just not care. As with anything, give it a go yourself and decide what you think. The food is good and the beers are cold!
